AME Awards Grand Jury Spotlight Interview: Pim van Helten

The AME Awards, honoring the world’s best advertising & marketing effectiveness, recruits its impressive jury from promient agencies from around the globe. Pim van Helten, CEO of  the award-winning creative digital agency DPDK, is one ofAME’s international Grand Jury of interdisciplinary creatives charged with selecting the world’s most effective advertising & marketing campaigns. This year, Pim brings his brings his creative talents to the 2017 AME Grand Jury.

Pim specializes in digital strategy and creative concepts, and his expertise lies within thefields of digital marketing, UX design and uncovering trends in technology and innovation, as well as in growing a start-up into a leading independent agency. With Pim at the head of the agency, DPDK now works for international clients such as Peugeot, Ikea, Citroen and Grolsch.            

In the interview below, Pim spends a few minutes with AME and shares his thoughts on the AME Awards, his favorite ad, what inspires him, and much more.

AME Awards: Why did you agree to judge this year’s AME Awards?

Pim van Helten: Because it is an honor.

Pim van Helten: Passion & Proof.

AME Awards: In your opinion how does cultural/social change influence regional work?

Pim van Helten: In today's world, it should not affect at all.

AME Awards: What makes the AME Awards stand out from other competitions?

Pim van Helten: The AME Awards are really about the essence of the profession

AME Awards: How do the entries differ from country to country? And what countries and markets are producing exceptionally strong work and in which mediums?

Pim van Helten: I'm very curious to find out.

AME Awards: What was a defining moment in your career? 

Pim van Helten: The moment I chose to build my current agency.

AME Awards: What’s your favorite ad that you created?

Pim van Helten: I am very proud at all the work that we do for Peugeot.

AME Awards: In your opinion, what is your favorite ad that embodies both creativity and effectiveness?

Pim van Helten: Obviously the Nike 'Just do it’ strategy.

AME Awards: What inspires you?

Pim van Helten: Farmers all over the world.
