In the interview below, Matias shares his perspective on award-winning creative and effective work, why effectiveness competitions are important, advice to entrants and more.

AME Awards: What stand-out attributes do you recognize in award-winning creative effective advertising?

Matias Mero: When the client's problem is solved in a new creative angle, execution is on a high level and of course the results are proven and solid. Then it ticks all the right boxes for me.

AME Awards: Why are effectiveness competitions like the AME Awards important?

Matias Mero: My personal “mantra” is that the only reason for any marcom agency to exist is to create measurable and business developing results for our clients. This is why recognizing work that shows effective results is truly important.

AME Awards: Why did you agree to participate on this year’s AME Grand Jury and What do you hope to learn by viewing entries into this competition?

Matias Mero: Jury work is a great way for keeping up-to-date on the level where the industry is going at the moment. In addition you get to see interesting work from different markets and get ideas and inspiration for your own work.

AME Awards: What advice would offer to potential entrants on earning an AME Award?

Matias Mero: First evaluate is the work you are entering truly as great as you see it. Dare to look at it critically enough. Then focus on making a solid case film which is to the point on which problem was solved, what was the creative solution for solving it and most importantly what were the results.
